Next Two Weeks Menu
For the next two weeks after the Band surgery, you will be required to adhere to a strict puree diet. It is very important to follow this diet so that your stomach and digestive system adjust to the Band device. The eating plan below gives you an idea of how to develop your diet gradually. Pureed foods should be quite liquid, similar to the consistency of applesauce or baby food. There should be no lumps or stringy pieces in the puree. Use broth or consommé to get the right consistency for pureed meat, fish, poultry, vegetables and starches (see also guidelines to puree). There are 6 rules that you need to follow to minimize problems:
Day 15-21 Each meal should not exceed 3/4 cup total
Day 22 to 28: Each meal should not exceed 3/4 cup total
If you are able to tolerate well the last menu, you can progress to the 7 days plan. If not, remains on pureed food longer. You should progress your food intake to reach 1,000 to 1,200 calories per day and includes sources of proteins, iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 and fiber. These foods along with other foods from Canada's Food Guide will help you to stay healthy and energetic. |
