The First Visit to the Surgeon's Office
Prior to your visit your bariatric surgeon will review the detailed information you provided in the Case History Form along with all pertinent documents such as previous operation reports, if any. During your visit with the bariatric surgeon you will have an accurate weight and height measurement (to verify your current BMI) and the appropriate medical examination. The surgeon will make the final determination if you are a suitable candidate for bariatric surgery. The surgeon will then explain the different surgical procedures and the risks and benefits of each. This is your chance to ask questions and to fully understand what is involved. Based on your BMI, your obesity related comorbid disease, your age, sex and province of residence and the option you have chosen the following will occur:
